The recent heavy rains have caused significant damage to multiple islands, according to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA). As of 14:00 today, 77 houses in 13 villages have been reported as damaged. Additionally, agricultural fields in three villages have also suffered extensive damage.
NDMA is actively assessing the damage, with assessments completed for 37 of the 41 households identified for evaluation. However, four households declined to participate in the assessment process.
NDMA has reported damages amounting to MVR 819,549, impacting buildings and personal belongings across the affected areas. The Authority has determined the amount of assistance required and will continue to provide aid to those affected in the coming days.
