Following torrential rains in GA. Kolamaafushi that caused widespread flooding, resulting in water entering several homes and institutions, this Authority, in coordination with relevant agencies, has begun monitoring the situation and providing necessary assistance.

Due to the adverse weather, power outages have also been reported in several houses and areas across Kolamaafushi. Immediately following the incident, the Island Council and local residents joined efforts to drain the floodwaters, digging trenches across different areas of the island to channel water out into the sea.

To provide further assistance in response to the situation, a team from the MNDF Southern Area Command arrived on the island tonight at around 21:40 hrs and commenced operations, equipped with dewatering pumps and sacks to prepare sandbags to prevent floodwaters from entering homes.
