The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) and the Maldives Red Crescent (MRC) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to further enhance collaboration in disaster management. This MoU was signed Yesterday (August 17, 2024) .
Through this partnership, NDMA and the Maldives Red Crescent will undertake several important initiatives. These include:
Strengthening national disaster preparedness and response systems.
Enhancing coordination in relief and recovery efforts following disasters.
Building resilient communities across the Maldives, capable of withstanding and recovering from disasters.
Improving the capacity of both parties through joint training and knowledge sharing.
This MoU reflects a continued commitment to safeguarding lives, protecting livelihoods, and strengthening the nation's resilience against future challenges, demonstrating the importance both parties place on such efforts.
Such collaborations are crucial in confronting disasters. It is expected that the joint efforts by NDMA and the Maldives Red Crescent will provide additional strength in protecting the people of Maldives from any potential disaster.
