IDMP and CERT Training Held in R. Meedhoo New

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has held an Island Disaster Management Plan (IDMP) formulation and Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training in R. Meedhoo. These trainings are conducted to formulate plans and enhance capabilities for disaster response at the island level.
The objective of these trainings, attended by a total of 18 participants, was to impart crucial skills for preparing for a disaster at the island level, intervening in a disaster, and coordinating these efforts.
During these trainings, organized by NDMA, participants were provided with theoretical knowledge in addition to practical information on how to act in a disaster situation.
Under the Island Disaster Management Plan (IDMP) training, participants learned how to act when a disaster occurs, how to plan and monitor events, and how to formulate recovery plans.
Participants of the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training were taught important skills such as providing first aid using readily available materials in emergencies, rescuing injured persons, extinguishing fires, and exchanging information using communication systems.
As a result of these trainings, the capacity to prepare for a disaster in R. Meedhoo will increase manyfold, and the safety of the community will be enhanced. Furthermore, these trainings will help to reduce the burden of disasters at the island community level.This is the 4th island where NDMA has conducted these trainings this year.
